                                   for a Sustainable Future

In today’s rapidly urbanizing world, air pollution poses a major threat to health,
environment, and sustainable development. As cities grow and industries expand,
the air quality deteriorates, affecting millions of lives. The United Nations Sustainable
Development Goal (SDG) 11 emphasizes making cities and human settlements inclusive,
safe, resilient, and sustainable. A key component of this goal is reducing the
environmental impact of cities, including air pollution, while promoting access to
                             green public spaces.
In this article, we will explore how we can fight air pollution, provide access to
green spaces, and build a cleaner, more sustainable future.

                             Understanding the Problem

Air pollution occurs when harmful substances, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen
oxides etc. are released into the atmosphere. Major sources include:

                              • Industrial Emissions: Factories release toxic
                              gases and particles.
                              • Vehicle Exhaust: Traffic contributes significantly
                              to urban pollution.
                              • Burning of Fossil Fuels: Coal and oil burning
                              release pollutants.
                              • Construction Dust: Particulate matter from
                              construction activities.
                              • Natural Causes: Wildfires, volcanic eruptions,
                              and dust storms.

Air pollution impacts the environment, causing climate change, acid rain, and
harm to ecosystems. It also threatens human health, leading to respiratory
diseases, heart conditions, and reduced life expectancy.
