Enzybiotics
Antibiotics have served
millions of lives. However,
the overuse and misuse of
antibiotics have
contributed to a rapid
emergence of antibiotic
resistance worldwide.
WHAT ARE ENZYBIOTICS?
The term is derived from a combination of the kill pathogens,
words “enzyme” and “antibiotics”. Proteolytic a low
enzymes called endolysins have particular probability for
effectiveness in combating a range of bacteria bacterial
and are the basis for enzybiotic research. re sistance

Enzybiotics are featured by a rapid and and a protein-
unique mode-of-action, a high specificity to aceous nature.
WHY ENZYBIOTICS?
Enzybiotics are capable of destroying certain bacteria, when they are being added
externally.Enzybiotics are researched largely to address the issue of antibiotic resistance,
which has allowed for the proliferation of drug-resistant pathogens posing great risk to
animal and human health across the globe.
ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE
As of July 2020, the World Health Organization considers antibiotic resistance as “one of the
biggest threats to global health, food security, and development today”. There are several
examples of antibiotic misuse, including self-medication and over- prescription of antibiotics.
Once easily- treatable condition urinary tract infections have become very difficult to address
as infection- causing bacteria have developed resistance to multiple drugs. The growing
number of antibiotic-resistant pathogens have prompted calls for research into innovative
antimicrobial therapies.
