Water crisis in India – Causes,

Effects and Solutions

With the planet’s largest population,
India finds itself to serve the vast
majority of population with
enough clean water. We are
facing water distress in both
quantity and quality due to
climate change, pollution,
population explosion,
overuse and significant
wastage of water.
Therefore ,we need to
adopt proactive steps
towards water conservation
and management from all
stakeholders. Adoption of 5
R’s – Reduce, Reuse ,
Recycle, Rejuvenate and
Respect towards water is required
to make India, water secured. India’s
history of water management dates back
thousands of years .
We can revive our water resources by indigenous
water management practices in order to achieve 5 R’s.

Dr. Rajendra Singh also known as
‘Jalpurush’ or ‘Waterman of India’ has
revitalised the traditional techniques of
gathering water in villages of India.

He dedicated his life for conserving and
rejuvenating India’s water resources.
Broadly, he aims to create a ‘ water
literate world’.
